There are only a few months each year when the ski’s get put in the closet, the studded snow tires are replaced with all weather and the heat and electric bills plummet. Then, the bikes come out storage and trails and roads are filled with enthusiastic cyclists enjoying the long days and warm weather. Anchorage Alaska in July is a 24 hour party designed by the never ending light endured by the sun always above the horizon.

Our journeys take place in and on the outskirts of Anchorage Alaska where we’ll explore the trails and roads and will be swept away with views of sun etched mountains, romantic foggy mists and wonderfully dense forests. This 4.75 hour 3 DVD collection spans over 70 miles of Alaska cycling.

Disk 1: Training to Endure, Anchorage to Eagle River (90 Minutes)

The sun is peeking through the clouds on this day, it’s 65 degrees and the winds are calm. I ask you, is there a better day to ride? Our journey begins in Downtown Anchorage and navigates the city streets until we get onto the Glenn Highway Bike Path. Heading NE, we’ll arrive in Eagle River. This is a very nice city that serves as a suburb to Anchorage and is located in a spectacular glacial valley. Our ride will wind into the valley following Eagle River Road towards the nature center.

Disk 2: XTreme Calorie Burner, Indian to Girdwood (1hr 50mins)

It’s 9:00 PM in Anchorage in July. The weather is a cool and clammy 60 degrees F. It has been raining and a few drizzles are still left. Fog blankets the hill sides and clears into the arm and a romantic mist entwines with the rain forest. Buried in the forest looms mystical creatures native to Alaska that meander throughout. Who knows what is lurking past that next turn?

Disk 3: The Alaskan Sunset Ride (90 Minutes)

The Arctic Bicycle Club’s touring division was gracious enough to allow me to tag along with them on one of their training rides. The ride begins in central Anchorage and moves South towards Rabbit Creek Road which defines the southern-most road of Anchorage and loops past numerous recreational amenities including ski trails, the Anchorage Zoo and the Hill Top Ski area. Dig in and climb 1200 feet to the summit then enjoy a breathtaking descent into the Alaskan summer sunset!

This is an incredibly unique way to train! The entire workout data is on screen at all times allowing you the ability to pace yourself and set goals. Audio mentoring is available on one of the three sound tracks. Once you have figured out how the heads up dash works and you feel comfortable turning the mentor off, slip on your own headphones, listen to your own music and follow the on screen workout and enjoy the views!

    Bicycle Maneuver – One of the most commonly used abdominal exercise equipment or gadgets, this material is used while the person is lying flat on his or her back with the knees bent 45 degrees with the chest. While on this position, one must place both hands nearest to the head. Do the initial movement by trying to reach the elbow with the knee. If the target is the right elbow, the right knee should be used. The opposite happens when the left elbow is involved. This “reaching” and “touching” movement must be performed simultaneously to tense the muscles in the abdomen. To obtain the best result, the exercise must be done regularly with the bicycle maneuver.

    Exercise Ball – If you will be doing crunches, obtaining abdominal exercise equipment they call as exercise ball can be one great move to take. This material is used primarily for such exercises with the user sitting on it while keeping feet apart. The body must also be aligned, and in order to obtain the best effects, one should lift the trunk off the ball in repetition. Yes, this movement must be repeated for several times.

    Roman Chair – Designed to consist parallel arms with a padded straight and high back, the roman chair is by far the most common of the abdominal exercise equipments available. To use it, one should place his or her forearms on the parallel arm rest that the equipment carries. While on this position, the back should be aligned with the chair’s back rest. To make you feel comfortable, consider adjusting the height of the chair, but make sure that your legs are dangling straight down especially when you are preparing for the initial step. The exercise performed on this equipment involves the bending of the legs to bring the knees near the chest. Once the knees are brought closer to the chest, stay there for quite sometime, and go back to the original position. Just like the rest of the abdominal exercises, this too must be repeated for several times.

    I am hypothyroidism an on thyroxine 100 mgs but am struggling to loose weight. I would be happy with a 7lb weight loss. Time is really hard as I have a 4 year old & attend college. Ps help

    Are you interested in losing weight and improving your appearance?  If you are, you should know the importance of exercise.  Exercise burns off calories, which reduces your calorie intake, which, in turn, makes it possible for you to lose weight.

What is nice about treadmills is that they come in a number of different styles.  For instance, you can find treadmills that are powdered by electricity and then treadmills that are powdered by your own walking. This is nice as it often results in treadmills being available for a wide range of prices. Whether you have one hundred dollars to spend on a treadmill or one thousand dollars, you should be able to find a treadmill for your home weight loss plan.

    Another piece of exercise equipment that you may want to look into buying, for your at-home weight loss plan, is that of an elliptical machine.  Elliptical machines are nice, as they often combine multiple exercises.  More advanced elliptical machines, also commonly referred to as deluxe elliptical machines, often given you an upper body workout and a lower body workout as well.  Elliptical machines are often referred to as combination stair climbers and ski machines.

    An exercise bike is another popular piece of exercise equipment that you may want to think about buying for your at-home weight loss program.  Like an elliptical machine, there are many exercise bikes that give you an upper body and a lower body workout.  These are points to take into consideration, should you decide to buy an exercise bike for yourself.  Like treadmills, exercise bikes come in a number of different formats and styles; therefore, they are sold for a wide range of prices.

    One piece of exercise equipment that you may not necessarily think about buying, but one that you should examine is that of a trampoline.  When it comes to trampolines, you will find that they come in a number of different formats. For instance, it is possible to find larger size trampolines, ones that are ideal for backyards and often associated with recreational play.
