  1. I wrote this book, so I’m biased. It is a comprehensive fitness book that presents advanced training methods for building endurance, strength, power, and flexibility.

I have been a competitive athlete for 50 years (discus thrower: All-American in college, 12-time masters US champion, 2-time world champion), coached track and field, and taught exercise physiology courses for nearly 40 years. This book contains valuable information that I have gathered from my experience as an athlete and coach, researcher and teacher in the sports sciences, and contributing editor to Muscular Development, Fitness RX for Men, and Fitness RX for Women magazines. The techniques are extremely effective — if you are willing to put in the work.

This small book contains some great information that will develop high levels of athletic fitness. You can buy it used for a few bucks. It will make you a better athlete.

While this book is not very long, it is packed with information to help transform your fitness level. It presents the foundations of many areas of exercise science that can be applied to your workouts. Very good fitness book for anyone who is beginning to exercise or has a good fitness level but wants some scientifically informed methods and strategies to improve your fitness. Also check out authors intro to weight training book. Great for beginners.
